Battle and Davis Capture NESS and PASS Mod Checkers

July 27, 2026 — Lee, NH — Candia, New Hampshire’s Jimmy Renfrew Jr. kept the punches coming in the inaugural Friday Night Throwdown on July 24, dominating at Lee USA Speedway for his second Pro All Stars Series (PASS) win of the season. Renfrew took the lead for good on the 52^nd circuit of the 200-lap affair and held on during multiple late-race restarts for a convincing win by decision.

The result made Renfrew the only two-time PASS National winner this season, with a victory in the non-point Fan Appreciation Open at Oxford Plains Speedway added to his coffers. However, after two PASS North events at White Mountain Motorsports Park slipped away in recent weeks, the Lee USA victory brought an extra measure of satisfaction to the Renfrew Motorsports team.

Renfrew started 14^th and was able to evade a trio of early cautions in the first 10 laps as Joey Doiron went to the early lead from the outside pole. The yellows included a rough sequence that eliminated several potential contenders. On the ninth circuit, Cole Robie and Corey Bubar got together racing for the third spot and pounded the frontstretch wall. Then on the restart, a missed shift triggered a multi-car pileup that collected D.J. Shaw, Wayne Helliwell Jr., Derek Griffith, and others.

On the restart, Doiron opened a gap, but Renfrew was on a mission. He was up to second by lap 24 and snatched the lead from Doiron on lap 30. Doiron was able to regain the top spot on the 41^st circuit, but following the fourth yellow for a Mike Scorzelli and Pat Corbett tandem spin on lap 50, Renfrew grabbed it back.

A 121-lap green flag run followed with Renfrew going on a tear that saw him lap up to the fifth-place runner and practically eliminated any potential of strategy playing into the six-tire event. The pace finally slowed when polesitter Alexendre Tardif spun in turn three to bring out the caution with 29 trips remaining around the 3/8-mile oval.

Renfrew acknowledged after the race that he considered staying out under the yellow but decided the chance of running out of fuel was too high, so he led the march down pit road for two fresh tires and gas. A strong stop sent Renfrew off pit road first, followed by Doiron, Griffith, and Shaw, the latter two of whom had done an admirable job recovering from the early pileup.

Once again, Renfrew fired off strong, running his fastest lap of the race four circuits after the pit stop. The young veteran appeared to be home-free, but Doiron spun out of the second spot with seven laps remaining due to a flat right-rear tire caused by a broken Panhard mount. That handed the second spot to Griffith, but with two lapped cars between himself and Renfrew.

It still wasn’t over, though. With three laps to go, Gabe Brown spun in turn four and subsequently ran out of fuel, having been unable to pit due to receiving the free pass on the previous two cautions. With Brandon Barker getting the free pass, that put the top three drivers in formation for a three-lap sprint to the checkered flag. Renfrew again was up to the task and sped away for a redeeming win.

Griffith and Shaw took second and third, with Sylas Ripley and Barker the final cars on the lead lap in fourth and fifth. Bobby Baillargeon, Garrett Hall, Eddie MacDonald, Travis Stearns, and Mike Hopkins completed the top 10.

Dunstable, Massachusetts’ Jeffrey Battle pulled one out of the fire late to score his fourth straight New England Supermodified Series (NESS) victory. Derek Griffith appeared to have the race in hand, leading the first 48 laps of the 50-lap feature as he kept Battle and Jon McKennedy at arm’s length.

However, Griffith’s Cinderella bid was spoiled when Dan Bowes spun off the backstretch and took a trip into the tire barriers. That set up a green-white-checkered finish, and Battle had a little more left in the tank, getting the jump and thundering off to a record-extending triumph. Battle has now won five of the seven NESS events this season.

Griffth settled for second with McKennedy third. P.J. Stergios and Ben Seitz rounded out the top five.

Tamworth, New Hampshire’s Jeremy Davis was the boss of the Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS Modifieds, going wire to wire in their 50-lap feature. Davis drove away from the pole in a 37-lap green flag run to start the feature, then stayed ahead of a trio of cautions, the last of which was a multi-car melee that swept up top point drivers Spencer Morse, Bill Penfold, Chanler Harrison, and more.

All that just delayed the inevitable, though, as Davis easily handled the challenges from George Helliwell each time. Separate spins on the final circuit by Ricky Thompson Jr. and Mike Penfold caused the race to end under caution and prevented Davis from having to sweat it out further.

With the field frozen when the caution flew per PASS procedures, George Helliwell was eventually declared the second-place finisher, followed by Reed Reno in third. Zach Bowie, Jacoby Maines, Jaxson Moreside, Morse, Shawn Knight, Thomas Brackett, and Cody Macomber also earned top 10 finishes.

The PASS Super Late Models and Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS Modifieds return to action at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday, August 9 for the Tune-Up to the 250. NESS Tunes up for the Ollie Silva Classic

Naples, Maine — 7/17/2026 — The biggest stars in the Northeast Super Late Model world are busy preparing for another huge with the Pro All Stars Series (PASS).  On July 24 at 6:45 p.m., PASS will stage the Friday Night Throwdown at New Hampshire’s Lee USA Speedway. Simultaneously, the fearless drivers of the New England Supermodified Series (NESS) will compete in a 50-lap tilt as a tuneup to the 19^th annual Ollie Silva Classic set for August 21.

With a total purse approaching $40,000 and a winner’s share of $7,000, D.J. Shaw looks to extend his PASS North and National point leads while Gabe Brown hopes to thwart those efforts and close the gap on the nine-time champion.  Each will have to battle for 200 laps in a race where everyone has two spare right-side tires at their disposal, adding a strategy element that could shake up the final results.

Looking at the rest of the field, young gun Alexandre Tardif, who led over half the race at White Mountain Motorsports Park, looks to get back on track. Another youngster, Cole Robie, looks to back up his third-place finish at Lee USA on opening day.

Perennial points contenders Joey Doiron, Trevor Sanborn, Garrett Hall, and Jimmy Renfrew Jr. also hope to narrow the gap on Shaw as the series enters its eighth PASS North series race and fifth PASS National event of the season.  Add in most recent winner Derek Griffith, Sylas Ripley, Eddie MacDonald, and former PASS champion Ryan Kuhn, and the stage is set for a true Friday Night Throwdown.

Meanwhile, the high-powered winged warriors of the New England Supermodified Series will be on tap preparing for one of the season’s biggest races, The Ollie Silva Classic on Friday, August 21.  The 572-cubic-inch big block motors, wide slicks, and huge wings perched atop lightweight chassis are a perfect fit for the 3/8-mile oval in Lee, New Hampshire, with speeds approaching 120 miles per hour.

Jeffrey Battle sits atop the season standings with hometown favorite P.J. Stergios residing in spot two just a couple of markers ahead of Dan Bowes and Ben Seitz.   Matt Swanson and Mike Mayberry also look to shake off mechanical gremlins that have plagued their cars in the last two races.

The Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS Mods complete the trifecta of PASS-sanctioned touring series, having seen six different winners in six races in 2026.  Current point leader Spencer Morse looks to become the first driver to two victories while number two-points man Billy Penfold aims to score his first. Cody Macomber, Reed Reno, Jacoby Maines, Tyler Connolly, Zach Bowie, most recent winner Chanler Harrison, Ricky Thompson Jr., and Mike Penfold round out the top 10.

Also in action as a part of the Friday Night Throwdown will be the local Ridge Runners and the MLM Diagnostic Services Crown Vics, setting up a fantastic Friday night at New Hampshire’s Center of Speed. Kyle Dumas currently leads the Ridge Runner standings by a single marker over Josh Hodgton while Josh “Guido” Valliere has rode a popular win last time out to a commanding position atop the Crown Vic standings.

July 13, 2026 — N. Woodstock, NH — In a tumultuous 150 laps for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) at White Mountain Motorsports Park on Sunday, July 12, Hudson, New Hampshire’s Derek Griffith showed that patience is a virtue. The veteran dodged the carnage throughout the first 100 circuits of the Midseason Invasion, then dominated down the stretch for his first PASS win of the season and the 24^th of his storied career.

In his first visit to the track since a victory in September 2024, Griffith showed no signs of rust, earning the outside pole alongside Alexandre “Fireball” Tardif. The Quebec hotshoe set the early pace while Griffin settled into the position 3-5 range, content to let Joey Doiron, Sylas Ripley, Jimmy Renfrew Jr., and others duke it out.

A steady diet of cautions highlighted by Jeremy Davis’s trip into the turn-three tire barriers on lap 27, coupled with aggressive racing throughout the field, prevented Tardif from gaining a large advantage. Many drivers atop the odds list also found themselves unable to mount a challenge, as Trevor Sanborn, Johnny Clark, Gabe Brown, and others were on and off pit road.

 As the race neared its 2/3 mark, Renfrew seemed like the driver to beat. Fighting from the 13^th starting position, he battled his way to the runner-up spot on lap 79 and chased down Tardif. On the 99^th circuit, Renfrew swung underneath Tardif and took over the top spot, looking for atonement after spinning out of the lead late in PASS’s May visit to White Mountain.

Just seconds later, though, Renfrew suffered an even worse fate. Cole Robie spun in turn one to bring out the caution on lap 100, and as the lapped car of Kyle Goodbout checked up to avoid Robie, Renfrew couldn’t slow down in time, driving into the back of Goodbout’s machine. Renfrew immediately drove into the infield and dropped the window net, knowing the damage was terminal.

That handed the lead back to Tardif, with Griffith now in second. Griffith was able to slot in line behind Tardif on the restart, and as the field came to complete lap 103, Griffith got a great bite off turn four to get inside Tardif. He completed the move just before Tardif and Doiron tangled, putting Tardif into the spin cycle for another yellow.

Two more cautions would follow, including one on lap 118 when Kaiden Fisher and Ryan Kuhn spun out of the top 10. But once the field sorted itself out, Griffith put it to them, soaring into the afternoon sun for his sixth career PASS victory at White Mountain.

Despite the scuffle with Tardif and a potential hand injury that resulted, Doiron gutted it out, holding off Ripley for a runner-up finish. Point leader D.J. Shaw came in fourth while Garrett Hall overcame ignition issues to place fifth. Despite running the entire event without power steering, Gabe Brown managed sixth. Sanborn, Tardif, Clark, and Robie completed the top 10. Robie did so after having to change engines during practice.

Dunstable, Massachusetts’ Jeffrey Battle remained the supreme leader of the New England Supermodified Series (NESS) with his third straight victory and second in five days. Starting fifth for the 50-lap main event, Battle only needed five circuits to power past his challengers, snatching the lead from P.J. Stergios.

Battle’s lead eventually neared half a track even as Stergios’s car appeared to get stronger. Stergios got one last crack at Battle when Matt Swanson’s brake lock-up issues returned to bring out the lone yellow with six circuits remaining. But Battle showed he was just toying with the competition, handily pulling back away to win and extend his point lead.

Stergios was runner-up for the third straight week which, combined with a heat race win, unofficially moved him up to second in the point standings. Dan Bowes was third, creating a repeat of the Thompson Speedway podium from the previous Wednesday. Ben Seitz and Dave Duggan rounded out the top five.

A rough-and-rowdy Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS Modified feature saw Freeport, Maine’s Chanler Harrison come up smelling like roses. Harrison started on the pole for the 50-lap event but had to fight off numerous contenders and handle multiple restarts on the way to his first win of the season.

The tone was set when second- and third-place point drivers Bill Penfold and Reed Reno crashed on lap two, forcing Reno out of the event. From there, Ricky Thompson Jr. emerged as Harrison’s early challenger, dogging him before and after a five-car pileup on lap 10. Veteran Shawn Knight and teenager Tyler Connolly were also in the mix, and both drove past Thompson on lap 29 when Thompson got loose off the fourth corner.

The day got worse for Thompson on lap 37 when something appeared to break in the #70 car, sending Thompson hard into the turn-two wall. That also let Zach Bowie into the picture, and Harrison, Knight, and Bowie pulled away to set up a three-car shootout.

Knight tried to pull a crossover move with two laps remaining, but Bowie had stuck his foot into the open door. Both drivers held it together after the ensuing contact, but it allowed Harrison to pull away just enough. For Harrison, who hadn’t yet finished in the top five this season, it was a redeeming trip to Victory Lane.

Connolly finished fourth while Penfold recovered to take fifth. Cody Macomber was sixth, followed by point leader Spencer Morse, who suffered a spin of his own. Jacoby Maines, Mike Penfold, and Thompson were seventh through 10^th.

In the Modified Racing Series (MRS), one night after blowing an engine in his Pro-4 Modified while leading at White Mountain, Chatham, Massachusetts’ Brett Meservey traded that heartbreak for an even bigger triumph. Meservey steadily worked his way from the sixth starting position in the 75-lap feature and was running second when two simultaneous crashes slowed the field with 27 laps complete.

On the restart, Meservey powered past Ryan Doucette to take the top spot. Anthony Nocella moved into second place with 15 laps remaining but ran out of time to catch Meservey. It was Meservey’s first MRS win of the season and fifth of his career.

Nocella rebounded from an early exit in the NESS feature to take the middle spot on the podium with former champion Chris Pasteryak in third. Doucette, Brian Robie, Derek Robie, Stu McCormack, Andrew Martell, Nate Wenzel, and T.J. Bleau also earned top 10 finishes.

The Pro All Star Series travels to New Hampshire’s Lee USA Speedway on Friday, July 24, at 6:45 p.m. for the Friday Night Throwdown. Headlined by a 200-lap National Championship event for the PASS Super Late Models, the card also includes the New England Supermodified Series, the Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS Modifieds, and the local Ridge Runners and MLM Diagnostic Services Crown Vics.

July 9, 2026 — Thompson, CT — Dunstable, Massachusetts’ Jeffrey Battle put two more giant checkmarks on his New England Supermodified Series (NESS) resume by winning the Twisted Tea Winged Wednesday 40 at Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Wednesday, July 8. Battle snatched the lead from Dan Bowes on the 21^st circuit and drove away to get his second straight victory and third of the 2026 season.

In the process, Battle also passed Bowes on the all-time NESS winner’s list, getting his 10^th career triumph. All of them have come in a span of just over 22 months. It was also the first big-block supermodified win for Battle at North America’s oldest asphalt short track.

Starting from the fourth position after winning the first heat race, Battle followed Bowes around the outside of polesitter Mike Mayberry at the drop of the green flag. An exhilarating struggle followed, as Battle constantly got inside of Bowes on the straightaways, only for Bowes to hold him back using the corner momentum on the outside groove.

However, Bowes’ car was getting looser as the race went on, causing the right rear tire to burn up. In a repeat of Oxford Plains Speedway two weekends before, Battle made his move at the halfway mark. He ducked underneath Bowes in turns 3 and 4, led lap 21 by a whisker, then cleared the 2023 champion in the next set of corners.

From there, Battle turned on the afterburners, putting a straightaway over the rest of the competition. P.J. Stergios also chased down Bowes for second with 10 laps to go and was running similar lap times to Battle in the closing stages. However, Battle was already long gone and cruised to the victory.

Stergios earned his second straight runner-up finish while Bowes settled for third. Rob Summers, in a one-off sub role for Anthony Nocella, passed Ben Seitz on the final lap for fourth.

Multiple notable contenders were felled by trouble on a wild Wednesday night. Dave Duggan suffered a hard crash in the first practice after a mechanical failure in the rear end of his supermodified. Simultaneously, Matt Swanson experienced front brake lock-up in his Howie Lane-owned car, which the team couldn’t resolve by feature time. Jon McKennedy won the second qualifier, but his engine went sour just three laps into the main event.

The New England Supermodified Series is right back in action this Sunday, July 12 at White Mountain Motorsports Park. The PASS Midseason Invasion includes the Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models, Modified Racing Series, and Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS Modifieds.

What looked like a battle between the United States and Canada for the victory in Thursday's Celebration of America 300 at Oxford Plains Speedway turned into a battle of Center Conway, New Hampshire in the closing laps.

D.J. Shaw, a nine-time champion in Pro All Stars Series (PASS) competition, charged to the front of the field just before the checkered flag at the conclusion of 300 laps - and a heavy downpour of rain as victory lane celebrations commenced.

As the race entered its final 40 laps, fellow Center Conway native Gabe Brown battled with Quebec's Alexendre "Fireball" Tardif for the lead. Brown successfully held off repeated attempts by Tardif to claim the top spot.

However, Shaw led a group of cars including Garrett Hall and Cole Robie who closed in on the lead duo as they fought for the point. Inside of 10 laps to go, Shaw passed both Tardif and Brown before opening a gap of more than a second at the finish.

As stunned as the crowd that braved the unseasonably warm temperatures to attend the Third Annual Celebration of America 300 may have been by Shaw's late-race heroics, he seemed just as surprised afterwards. He struggled to find the words to describe the win

"I can't even believe it, man," said Shaw in victory lane. "That was a 300-lap race, and we had the best car for five of them. They were just the right ones. I can't say enough about this team."

Brown, who won one of two 50-lap qualifier races on Wednesday, settled for second on Thursday. After Shaw's pass for the lead, Brown held off Tardif and company to maintain the runner-up spot.

"It just got too tight, both runs on the tires. Just didn't have enough there," said Brown. "The 5 car decided to rip my right-front off when I was passing him, so that ruined our race, too. We'll move on to the next one."

Tardif rounded out the podium, finishing ahead of Hall and Robie as second through fifth all crossed the line within a second of one another at the end of the 300-lap race.

"Thank you to everyone for being here," said Tardif. "Congratulations to D.J. The car was good. The last set of tires, I feel like there was something a bit off, but I'm glad the performance was there."

Derek Griffith rebounded from a pair of incidents during the on laps 183 and 194 to finish sixth. Sylas Ripley finished seventh, followed by Tom Abele, Jr., Travis Stearns and Trevor Sanborn.

Several front-runners over the course of the event saw their strong runs end in disappointment. Johnny Clark started on the pole after winning his Wednesday qualifier and led 42 laps early. However, a flat tire dropped him outside of the top 10, finishing one lap down in 14th.

Corey Bubar led 19 of the race's first 23 laps, and move back into the lead on lap 196. However, he lost power while under caution on lap 209 and did not return to the track, finishing 22nd.

Oxford Plains Speedway will host its Oxford Championship Series divisions on Saturday, July 11 for Maine Air National Guard Night in its next event. Post time is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.

The next stop for the Pro All Stars Series is White Mountain Motorsports Park for the White Mountain 150 on Sunday, July 12, with racing starting at 2 p.m. ET.

A pair of 50-lap qualifiers on Wednesday night set the stage for Thursday's Celebration of America 300 at Oxford Plains Speedway, with Johnny Clark and Gabe Brown scoring victories.

In the first qualifier, Johnny Clark jumped to the lead from the outside of the front row from the onset and led all 50 laps en route to the victory.

Clark, the 2020 winner of the Oxford 250, has enjoyed plenty of success at the Maine track over the years, but recent efforts have left him searching for that speed from the past. He hopes this week's Celebration of America will be a return to form.

"It's been a while since the 54 has gone around this place like that," Clark said in victory lane. "We've been working hard at it. I can tell you more of what doesn't work here than does. Boy, that was pretty good. It helps starting on the front row like that, but the thing never fell off. I was riding for half of it. I've got to save something there so we can use these tires later."

Corey Bubar finished second in the first qualifier, followed by Joey Doiron, Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. and Garrett Hall.

In the second qualifier, Gabe Brown, the most recent PASS winner at Oxford Plains, led wire-to-wire. Despite his recent win, the work hasn't stopped for Brown and his team back in Center Conway, New Hampshire.

"We made a lot of changes this week in the shop," said Brown. "We had a short week with having to be in Canada this week with ACT. The changes are obviously working. We've got some fine-tuning to do, but we've been hard at work all day making this thing a hot rod. We're looking forward to tomorrow."

Derek Griffith finished second, with Alexendre Tardif third, Trevor Sanborn fourth and Mike Hopkins fifth.

The field of Super Late Model racers will compete for 300 laps on Thursday in the Third Annual Celebration of America 300. They'll be joined by the PASS Modifieds and Oxford Plains Speedway's Mad Bombers division.
